SKY CINEMA LAUNCHES MOVIE-INSPIRED WREATHS JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS

Sky Cinema has partnered with boutique florist Rebel Rebel to bring a touch of Hollywood glamour to the traditional winter wreath.

Drawing inspiration from a selection of blockbusters and critically acclaimed films available on Sky Cinema this December, the five limited-edition wreaths bring to life The Grinch, Avengers: Endgame, Mary Poppins Returns, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part and Mary Queen of Scots.

From Mary Poppins tumbling from the sky with her famous umbrella to the green Grinch stealing Christmas, the wreaths reflect the heritage, characters and themes of each film through their ingredients, such as English ivy and neon-green leaves.
The movies featured in the wreaths will be available to watch over the festive period with a Sky Cinema subscription, and with the promise of a new premiere every day, this year’s line-up of megahit movies ensures that there’s something to suit every taste.

For festive film fans: The Grinch (available now)

This animated take on Dr Seuss’ Christmas classic is the perfect choice for families and big kids this Christmas - alongside a host of modern festive favourites available on the service.

Rebel Rebel: “With a base of pampas grass and topped with an assortment of bright neon painted leaves, plus green glitter waxed apples along with black asparagus resembling those bushy eyebrows, this wreath will have you green with envy in an homage to one of the most infamous Christmas characters.”

For culture buffs: Mary, Queen of Scots (22nd December)

For period drama fans, Mary, Queen of Scots is one of the most unmissable historical films to watch this festive season. Academy Award-nominated actresses Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie star in this epic historical drama based on the rivalry between two powerful women.

Rebel Rebel: “Created using a mixed foliage base of holly, ivy and magnolia, this wreath tells a tale of two halves, with Scottish thistle and heather contrasting with English holly and ivy in a blossoming recreation of the historical story.”

For superhero superfans: Avengers: Endgame (26th December)

Based on the Marvel Comics, the remaining characters reunite in the exhilarating climax to the story. Avengers: Endgame will be enjoyed by kids and adults alike, as the conclusion to the most popular superhero franchise of all time.

Rebel Rebel: “The cinematic event of the decade has been re-crafted for this wreath with a dark and fiery base, made using metallic leaves and the almighty gauntlet wielded by Thanos. With black asparagus fern and the American flag draped within, this is the ultimate wreath for superhero superfans.”

For the Disney lovers: Mary Poppins Returns (25th December)

Starring Emily Blunt as everyone’s favourite nanny, Mary Poppins Returns has something for Disney fans of all ages and generations.

Rebel Rebel: “Practically perfect in every way, this wreath evokes the eloquent Mary Poppins with a base of English berried ivy and holly, with navy, red and white polka dot ribbons. It also features the nanny’s iconic umbrella and delicate fairy lights as an homage to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s lamplighter Jack.”

For the whole family: The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (24th December)

The much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed first movie that started it all, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. With sharp jokes and catchy songs, there’s plenty to keep kids and grown-ups entertained.

Rebel Rebel: “Taking inspiration from the bold, bright colours and cubic shapes synonymous with the LEGO franchise, with Lego bricks and mini character figurines from the film, this unique square-shaped wreath is sure to have you singing “Everything is Awesome!” at the top of your voice.”

Book of the Week: Sci-Fi Thriller, Doyle’s Law

Doyle’s Law: Sci-Fi Thriller, a “Wild Ride”, Straps Readers into Space Station with Cosmos’ Most Irreverent Scientist Sam Roberts’ ‘Doyle’s Law’ is an intricate, cinematic new thriller that fuses intense paranoia and science fiction, told through the periscope of a bumbling, inept scientist attempting to fix the space station he has royally sabotaged. It’s a story in two parts, as time twists, plots tangle and the depths of human clumsiness become chillingly evident. One critic recently wrote, “This damn book cost me too much needed sleep. It was like a giant puzzle with all the pieces slowly making sense and fitting together. Well done, sir.” When most authors depict the crews of spaceships, they are painted as fearless, totally-in-control heroes using their wit and tenacity to achieve the unthinkable… …But Chief O’Connor, protagonist in Sam Roberts’ ‘Doyle’s Law’ is slightly less noble. In fact, his entire crew suspects him of sabotage and rampant buck-passing. As hostilities ri
