First Look: LIVEWIRE #1

LIVEWIRE #1 valiant comics

Lights Up with Vita Ayala and the SECRET WEAPONS Art Team – On Sale December 19th!

Valiant gives us a first look within the pages of LIVEWIRE #1, the stunning new ongoing series from rising star Vita Ayala (Supergirl, Submerged) and fan-favorite artists Raúl Allén (WRATH OF THE ETERNAL WARRIOR) and Patricia Martín (SECRET WEAPONS)! On December 19th, Amanda “Livewire” McKee – one of Valiant’s most important players since the days of 2012’s HARBINGER – ascends to the spotlight in her first-ever solo series in the publisher’s history!

“Amanda has always been such a strong, complex, compelling character, and I personally have been waiting for a long time for her to get her own solo title!” Ayala told THR. “Amanda deserves to shine, and the folks over at Valiant are determined that her first solo book be impactful! And honestly, we need a hero like Amanda right now.”

Accomplice. Mentor. Savior. And now, Enemy of the State. Seeking to protect other vulnerable super-powered psiots like herself, Livewire plunged the United States into a nationwide blackout with her technopathic abilities, causing untold devastation. After choosing the few over the many, she must now outrun the government she served – and those she once called allies. With the whole world hunting her, what kind of hero will Livewire be…or will she be one at all?

Also: In keeping with Valiant’s groundbreaking experiments in comic printing technology, LIVEWIRE #1 will also feature its own highly limited Glass Variant Cover – printed via a special multi-colored process on a carefully devised pane of glass, with artwork by superstar artist Doug Braithwaite (Justice)!

Retailers, take note: One LIVEWIRE #1 Glass Variant Cover can be obtained for every qualifying order of 250 copies of LIVEWIRE #1. There is no limit per store – for example, a 500-copy order nets two Glass Variants. For any questions, please contact Valiant’s dedicated sales team at sales@valiantentertainment.com.

Supernatural: The Complete Fourteenth Season Blu-ray Review

*Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own* Synopsis: The Winchester brothers’ harrowing journey into the heart of darkness continues as Supernatural enters Season Fourteen. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have matched wits with monsters, demons, Heaven and Hell. But last season, the Winchesters and Castiel (Misha Collins) stumbled upon a terrifying alternate universe: an apocalyptic world where they were never born, all while training Jack (Alexander Calvert), the son of Lucifer, and trying to save their mother, Mary Winchester. The final battle with Lucifer and the Archangel Michael altered the Winchester’s lives forever… and created an even greater threat for Sam and Dean. The boys are back and willing to risk everything for their loved ones in all twenty thrilling new adventures, including a historic 300th episode, with a Winchester family reunion never

Book of the Week: Sci-Fi Thriller, Doyle’s Law

Doyle’s Law: Sci-Fi Thriller, a “Wild Ride”, Straps Readers into Space Station with Cosmos’ Most Irreverent Scientist Sam Roberts’ ‘Doyle’s Law’ is an intricate, cinematic new thriller that fuses intense paranoia and science fiction, told through the periscope of a bumbling, inept scientist attempting to fix the space station he has royally sabotaged. It’s a story in two parts, as time twists, plots tangle and the depths of human clumsiness become chillingly evident. One critic recently wrote, “This damn book cost me too much needed sleep. It was like a giant puzzle with all the pieces slowly making sense and fitting together. Well done, sir.” When most authors depict the crews of spaceships, they are painted as fearless, totally-in-control heroes using their wit and tenacity to achieve the unthinkable… …But Chief O’Connor, protagonist in Sam Roberts’ ‘Doyle’s Law’ is slightly less noble. In fact, his entire crew suspects him of sabotage and rampant buck-passing. As hostilities ri
