VIDEO: SDCC The X-Files Panel: David Duchovny and Dirk Maggs

You've no doubt heard by now that The X-Files has been renewed by Fox for an 11th season. There's no word yet on exactly when it will air -- aside from sometime in 2018. There is also an all-new audio drama featuring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully entitled The X-Files: Cold Cases. In anticipation of the return of Mulder and Scully to the small screen, as well as the release of the audio drama, The X-Files had a presence at San Diego Comic-Con this year.

David Duchovny was on hand to discuss the audio presentation of The X-Files: Cold Cases, which isproduced by Audible, and a bit about the show in general during a panel at SDCC. He was joined on stage by the producer of Cold Cases, Dirk Maggs.

Photo of the Day - Windy Nannies - Mary Poppins

Lets get rid of the rejects.  Well not quite but this behind the scenes photo from Disney's 1964 Mary Poppins show the nannies that didn't even get as far as the interview.  Poppins claimed the role.  Come on, step in time.

Photo of the Day - Huey Lewis and Michael J. Fox

"Hold it fellas.  Sorry, but you just too darn loud."  Yep, those lines are now a fan favourite from the classic 1985 movie, Back to the Future.  Huey Lewis was the guy behind the megaphone who of course sand "Power of Love" and "Back in Time" which were featured in the movie.

Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larocca Unleash a New Story in STAR WARS #38

The Darth Vader creative team will take over the title in November!

Fans were blown away by their work in DARTH VADER, and we fell in love with a rogue archaeologist in DOCTOR APHRA. Today, Marvel is proud to announce that writer Kieron Gillen will continue to bring his exciting storytelling to a galaxy far, far away along with artist Salvador Larocca, when Gillen takes over as the writer for Marvel’s ongoing STAR WARS title this fall.

“My aim's simple – to do what Salva and I did with Darth Vader, but for Leia, Luke and Han. As in, chart the rise and fall of the rebellion between A New Hope and the Empire Strikes Back, how it changes them all and how it changes the universe,” said series writer Kieron Gillen. “So a simple aim, but as nightmarishly tricky to pull off as dropping a proton torpedo down a thermal exhaust port. But hopefully as thrilling if we pull it off. I can't wait till you see it up. First up: the post-apocalyptic hell that remains of Jedha after the Death St…

INTRADA Announces Jerry Goldsmith's ONE LITTLE INDIAN

ONE LITTLE INDIAN Music Composed and Conducted by JERRY GOLDSMITH INTRADA Special Collection Volume 383Intrada announces a reissue of an earlier Special Collection release that went out of print virtually overnight -- One Little Indian.  Featuring updated packaging and slight remastering, Intrada offers one of Jerry Goldsmith's more charming scores for this Disney film. It was the first of a handful of projects Goldsmith composed for Walt Disney Studios, writing a full-blooded, energetic western score, including an exciting main title that immediately establishes a bold, exciting sense of adventure. If there’s a Disney touch to the score, it’s in Goldsmith’s sometimes sly, often brash approach to the physical comedy in the film and, in particular, the incongruous presence of the two camels. Goldsmith has sitar play the familiar first five notes of Maurice Jarre’s Lawrence of Arabia theme, and he provides a rambunctious, muted cornet tune for the animals. It all comes together into o…

Re-fflecktions on The Batman

by Patrick Gibbs

When the news first broke that Ben Affleck had been cast as Batman, a lot of people were gasping in disbelief. I was among them, but for a very different reason than most: I wasn't worried if Ben was right for the Bat, but rather, if the Bat was right for Ben.

The one time favorite target of critics and tabloids alike had brought his career back from the brink of death by unexpectedly becoming the most artistically and commercially successful star turned director since Mel Gibson, and his Oscar snub for Argo had actually come as something of a boon, getting the last of the significant holdouts to rally around him and demand that the bad films and hype of the past be cast aside and that this hardworking artist get s fair shake. Affleck was on top of the world, finally out of anyone's shadow (Matt Damon, John Krasinki and Gus Van Sant even found themselves in Ben's shadow with Promised Land not even coming close to Argo. ).

So why on earth would someone in t…

Doctor Who | BBC Addresses Concerns Over Thirteenth Doctor

In response to some negative fan reaction over the casting of Jodie Whittaker as the first woman to portray The Doctor on Doctor Who, the BBC has released the following statement:

Complaint: Some viewers contacted us unhappy that Jodie Whittaker has been cast as the new Doctor. Response: Since the first Doctor regenerated back in 1966, the concept of the Doctor as a constantly evolving being has been central to the programme. The continual input of fresh ideas and new voices across the cast and the writing and production teams has been key to the longevity of the series. The Doctor is an alien from the planet Gallifrey and it has been established in the show that Time Lords can switch gender. As the Controller of BBC Drama has said, Jodie is not just a talented actor but she has a bold and brilliant vision for her Doctor. She aced it in her audition both technically and with the powerful female life force she brings to the role. She is destined to be an utterly iconic Doctor. We hope v…

It’s a Mutant and Merc Team-Up in DEADPOOL VS. OLD MAN LOGAN!

This fall, katanas and claws will clash when two of Marvel’s deadliest heroes come together, in a clash you can only imagine! Superstar writer Declan Shalvey (Deadpool, Moon Knight) and fan-favorite artist Mike Henderson (Secret Wars: Battleworld) team up to bring you a regenerative, cranky old X-Man and a regenerative, wacky Merc with the Mouth…in a story so explosive, not even the promise of chimichangas can save the day!

"DEADPOOL vs. OLD MAN LOGAN is has everything I've wanted to see in either a Deadpool book, or a Wolverine book,” said series writer Declan Shalvey. “We get to see both characters be the best at what they do, while also getting to see them be the classic odd-couple. Both characters naturally bump heads against each other, which is a lot of fun to write. I’ve been so fortunate to have Heather Antos edit this book. It's been a dream working on it, she's done everything she could to make this book what I want it to be, and a great working experience …
